Death of Ad Executive Leads Father to Sue

By Rheingold Giuffra Ruffo Plotkin & Hellman LLP

A Midtown Executive, Alex Hart, who was killed in an elevator accident back in December 2011 is gruesomely remembered today through a lawsuit raised by her father. Suzanne Hart, who was on her way to her advertising agency on Madison Avenue, New York City, never reached her destination.

Alex Hart, father of the late Alex Hart, is suing Transel Elevator and Electric for the following claims: failure of the repairmen in re-enabling safety circuits post-repair, failure to post signs warning riders of repairs, failure in contacting the Department of Buildings for inspection of the lift, and leaving a “jumper wire” that left the elevator to bypass its safety circuit. “We don’t have a comment at this point,” said Robert Pitney, a Transel representative.

John Fichera who is the Co-owner of Transel, five Transel employees, and the management of the Madison Avenue building, Cushman & were named in the suit which was filed in the Brooklyn Supreme Court. Our firm will be following this case closely as our elevator cases have involved New York City building owners and maintenance companies.
