We recently handled a case against Bellevue Medical Center for the family of a man who died of lung cancer which was not timely diagnosed. Our client had multiple complaints regarding his lungs and sought out treatment repeatedly at Bellevue Medical Center. Many X-rays were taken. Unfortunately, despite the x-rays showing signs consistent with lung cancer, the physicians failed to diagnose the problem. Ultimately, it took over two years for the cancer to be diagnosed. Sadly, by the time the diagnosis was made, the cancer was too advanced and our client died. Our medical experts determined that if a diagnosis had been timely made as it should have been, our client would most likely have survived his disease. Devastating stories such as this could be avoided if there was greater attention to safety and oversight at hospitals.
