Senator Grassley Inquires about Zimmer Implants

Senator Charles (Chuck) Grassley (R) recently wrote to Zimmer Holdings inquiring about how it handles complaints about its joint implants. His inquiry was prompted by an article in The New York Times which showed how Zimmer had ended a long term relationship with one of it's consultants after he reported problems with an artificial knee implant. Zimmer released a statement saying they would happy to respond to his request.

In a previous incident involving another one of their devices, the Zimmer Durom Cup, Zimmer Holdings blamed a doctor's surgical technique when implanting the device which would ultimately cause it to fail.
