Another bus crashed just outside of New York City sending 24 people to the hospital with minor injuries. The police are initially reporting that the driver appeared to be going too fast for the wet conditions on the roadway.
The bus company, Star Tag Inc., has received four citations for unsafe driving in the last two years and every recorded inspection resulted in vehicle maintenance violations.
The bus was en route from Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut heading to Chinatown in Queens when it struck a center median barrier in New Rochelle, New York. The driver, who was ejected from the bus, was the most seriously injured.
The accident happened approximately two miles south of the site of the March 2011 crash that killed 15 peole. Recently, government safety officials closed bus operations for safety violations due to the recent rash of deadly bus accidents in the past year.
As a result of the March 2011 fatal accident, the driver was charged with manslaughter and the bus operator, World Wide Tours of Greater New York, was shut down.
