Kio Rios Recalled for Air Bag Defect

Over 73,000 Rio Models from 2006-2008 have been recalled due to an air bag malfunction hazard. Particularly, the passenger air bag could malfunction and deploy when a small child was seated in the front passenger seat. The problem can be traced to a sensor mat in the front passenger seat. This is not the first time that Kia has had a sensor problem as 2007-2008 Sorento crossovers were recalled in September 2011.
However, the same sensors are used in the Hyundai Accent and can also injure adults. If you or someone you know has been injured by the air bag in the front passenger seat of either of these vehicles, please contact us.
