Did you know that drug sales representatives very often neglect to inform doctors about drug side effects? A new study raises concerns about sales representatives who fail to inform doctors about the serious side effects, which have potentially harmful consequences - ultimately putting a patient at risk. The study surveyed a total of 225 doctors in Montreal, Vancouver, Sacramento, and Toulouse, France. The law makes it a requirement for sales reps to inform doctors about potential adverse effect but this study found that from 59 percent to 66 percent of the time sales reps failed to provide any information about serious side effects. It was suggested that patients "may need to adopt a buyer beware attitude" about any prescription. Shouldn't physicians actively inquire about the potential harm from drugs instead of letting countless patients suffer the consequences of their negligence? Due to the clear oversight by sales representatives and doctors, patients may now need to adopt a buyer beware attitude when receiving prescriptions.
