Recently, we have been discussing rumors surrounding Johnson & Johnson and their employees who have been involved in the mass-tort implant cases. One article explains that on Wednesday, J&J’s pharmaceutical unit brought up evidence of mold contaminations in Risperdal Consta during a routine testing process. There are 420 lawsuits against J&J and Jansen, regarding to the allegations of personal injuries related to Risperdal. According to the New York Times, Johnson & Johnson recalls that there were tiny particles of plastic in 200,000 bottles of liquid Motrin for infants last week. These two manufacturing problems within a short span in between seem to threaten patients and their company’s image as well. In May, J&J discovered high levels of acetaminophen in Children’s Tylenol in South Korea and that in three other countries, Millions of packs of birth-control pills had hormones that were not being released properly into the body. Bloomberg.com indicated earlier that J&J are facing about 130 cases corresponding to allegations that Risperdal had caused males to develop breasts.
Can we consumers depend on one of the world’s most trusted brands? J&J recalled millions of defected products or products that have not yet mandated regulatory approvals as of this year. Well chief executive replacements have taken place and officials of Johnson & Johnson are planning to return most of the company’s over-the-counter brands to pharmacy shelves by the end of the year while meeting the F.D.A.’s requirements under the consent decree. Since Johnson & Johnson are under a lot of scrutiny, they are focusing a lot on the quality of their products.
