What are the Symptoms from Salmonella?

The more common symptoms are fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. In immune compromised patients or those with more serious conditions, the bacteria can reach the bloodstream and cause arterial infections, endocarditis, and arthritis-like symptoms.

How Does Salmonella Get into Food Products?

Salmonella gets into food primarily from animal feces contaminating products like raw meat, poultry, eggs, and unpasteurized dairy, but it also spreads via contaminated water, infected handlers’ unwashed hands (cross-contamination), and contact with infected animals (reptiles, birds) or their environments, contaminating produce or pet food, leading to outbreaks from undercooked foods, raw items, or improperly handled fresh produce.
