Jared Leto Denies Allegations of Sexual Abuse of Minors

By Thomas P. Giuffra

Jared Leto, the 54-year-old musician and actor who has earned an Academy Award and a Golden Globe has been accused of sexually assaulting between 4 and 10 minor females. (The Associated Press is reporting 4 allegations while the NY Times reports 10 young women.). Leto has categorically denied the allegations.

“I have never sexually assaulted anyone in my entire life. These claims are absolutely and categorically false,” Leto, 54, said in a statement to The Associated Press.

However, a lengthy BBC documentary alleges otherwise. According to the AP, the documentary “details allegations including those from four women who accused the actor of sexual misconduct and assault between 2002 and 2016, when they were teenagers and Leto was an adult. One said she was 17 when she was sexually assaulted, while another accused Leto of statutory rape as she was also 17. One woman said she was 19 when Leto threatened her with sexual assault and another said she was 16 when Leto made sexually explicit phone calls and propositioned her.”

The minors were as young as 14 years old when they received sexual propositions from the star via phone calls and/or direct contact. In some instances, Leto asked for sex from the underage girls. According to MSN, “in total, 10 women came forward for the show, nine of whom were sharing their stories publicly for the first time.”

The women, who are unnamed in the July 29 report, detailed alleged incidents with the “Suicide Squad” actor, including one woman who alleged the actor sexually assaulted her in a motel bathroom when she was 17, and another who said she had underage sex with the Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman in California when she was 17, which would be considered statutory rape in the state. A third woman said Leto threatened her with sexual assault when she was 19, and a fourth recalled receiving sexually explicit phone calls from the “Tron: Ares” star when she was 16, with him suggesting they have sex at least once.
