Bladder Cancer, Colon Cancer, & Prostate Cancer Treatments

By Rheingold Giuffra Ruffo Plotkin & Hellman LLP

Many of our firm’s cancer case inquiries have included colon cancer, prostate cancer, and bladder cancer. Different cancers have various treatment options, including:

  • Surgery
  • Radiation therapy
  • Chemotherapy
  • Immunotherapy to treat cancer
  • Targeted therapy
  • Hormone therapy -especially for prostate cancer
  • Stem cell transplant
  • Precision medicine

Surgery against tumors can be the quickest method of defeating cancer. A tumor may be removed entirely or partially (debulking) during surgical treatment, which may result in a reduction of pain and pressure due to the presence of such a tumor.

Surgery is the most common form of treatment to remove the diseased sections of the colon. It can be used to inspect the surrounding lymph nodes so as to prevent the cancer from spreading to nearby parts of the body. Clinical trials using the newest forms of treatments and therapies may also be frequently used based on the specific case at hand.

Unlike colon cancer, prostate cancer uses more of n hormone therapy approach to avoid surgery, hormone therapy will treat the tumor and make it smaller before using radiation therapy and/or surgery.

Many oncologists recommend a combination of surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy to treat bladder cancer. However, there has been a rise in immunotherapy to treat bladder cancer so as to prevent the loss of the bladder.
