Runaway Toyota Cars
Toyota has recalled over 5 million vehicles because of defects that cause the cars to accelerate out of control. Hundreds of people have reported experiencing this problem and dozens have been killed and injured as a result of it. Initially, Toyota blamed the problem on floor mat interference with the accelerator pedal, while the second recall claimed it was from worn out or sticky accelerator pedals. Many experts believe that the real defect lies in the electronic throttle control assembly that is common to many Toyota vehicles (both within and outside of the recalled vehicles).
We are committed to ending these accidents
At Rheingold Giuffra Ruffo & Plotkin LLP, our New York auto defect lawyers treat victims of these accidents with the compassion they deserve.
When a vehicle suddenly accelerates, the results can be tragic, including:
- Spinal cord injuries
- Neck injuries
- Permenant disability
- Wrongful death
Some of our clients include a family filing a lawsuit against Toyota after being seriously injured when their brand new 2009 Toyota RAV-4 suddenly accelerated on a busy highway in upstate New York. Fortunately, they survived the accident but will have to live with the consequences of the injuries for the rest of their lives. Their story was featured on ABC News on several occasions. We will remain on the forefront of this litigation until all of these dangerous vehicles are removed from American roadways.
