Sebastian Bear-McClard, the estranged husband of actress Emily Ratajkowski and a producer in his own right, has been accused of using his Instagram account to groom teenage girls and sleep with them. If true, Bear-McClard joins Harvey Weinstein and Jeffrey Epstein as powerful men who have a criminal predilection for underage sex with girls. Needless to say, that won’t be good for his Hollywood career.
What is it about individuals, particularly men, who have achieved or enjoyed a certain status or privilege in society that they become sexual predators. As a lawyer who has represented the survivors of these type of men, I can tell you that it’s rarely about the sex. Rather, it’s about domination and power. These types become addicted to the rush they feel when they can compel women to do what they want, how they want, and when they want.
In the Bear-McClard case, he has been accused by two underage girls and a third of at the very least inappropriate behavior. Bear-McClard is 42-years-old. Why is he communicating with teenage girls on Instagram? His hook is his status and the intimation that he can get them in a film. In exchange, the girls have to sleep with them. I doubt there is anything more tawdry and sociopathic than this type of behavior.
In cases like these, there are criminal and civil remedies as long as the statute of limitations has not expired. In New York, the Governor signed a “look back” bill allowing a one year window for any sexual abuse civil filings that would have previously been time barred. That means if you have been sexually abused or harassed in New York, regardless of when it occurred, you may be able to file a legal claim for civil damages. This window expires November 24, 2023 so it is important to speak with an experienced sexual abuse lawyer now. I represented clients against Harvey Weinstein and have expertise in handling all aspects of these celebrity sex abuse cases. Call me today for a free and confidential evaluation of your case.
