Plaintiff's Awarded $1.5 Million in Second Kugel Bellwether

A federal court jury in the Kugel Multi District Litigation in Rhode Island awarded the Plaintiffs $1.5 million in the second bellwether trial. The Composix Kugel Hernia Patchimplanted in the plaintiff is an oval piece of surgical mesh with a "memory" ring inside. These rings have subsequently been recalled because of reports that the rings have been breaking, causing internal injuries.

The trial was persided over by Judge Mary Lisi who struck down plaintiffs' claims for punitive damages.
