Avaira Toric Contact Lenses Recalled
Written By: Rheingold, Giuffra, Ruffo & Plotkin LLP
Avaira Toric contact lenses are quietly being recalled after residue was found on some lenses and has been causing immense amounts of pain in users. CooperVision, located in Fairport, New York has been ignoring the advice from the FDA to expand the recall and has slowly been notifying people about specific lots being contaminated. Despite an international notification that hundreds of additional lots were recalled, it has yet to be expanded in the US.
Users are reporting tremendous amounts of pain and corneal abrasions after using the Avaira Toric lenses. Unfortunately people are only finding out after they've been diagnosed with these horrific problems that they have been using a product that has been recalled. CooperVision has set up a website that allows users to find out if their contacts have been recalled, but this website does not contain information about lenses that may be recalled in the future.
