More Toyota Vehicles Added to NHTSA Investigation Due to Fires
Written By: Rheingold, Giuffra, Ruffo & Plotkin LLP
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has added 600,000 Toyota Camrys and other vehicles to an investigation of fires in power window switches which totals over 1.4 million cars and SUVs now. The NHTSA says that power window switches in the driver's side doors can overheat and catch fire. This has resulted in fires and injuries. If you or someone you know has been injured as a result of a fire from the driver's side door, please contact Rheingold, Giuffra, Ruffo & Plotkin LLP.
This adds to the issues that Toyota has faced over the years. At Rheingold, Giuffra, Ruffo & Plotkin LLP, we represent numerous plaintiffs in both the New York Coordinated Litigation and the Federal MDL in California. These cases allege sudden unintended acceleration on the part of various Toyota vehicles. As liaison counsel in New York State, we have been moving cases forward and fact discovery is coming to a close. In the federal MDL, a status conference was recently held where the judge dismissed concerns regarding the first bellwether trial which is tentatively scheduled for February 2013.
