PEDESTRIAN SETTLES WITH PRIVATE BUS COMPANY FOR NEARLY $900,000

On October 24, 2014 Plaintiff received $885,000 in a settlement with the Defendant's Insurer, Discovery Property & Casualty Insurance Co. Plaintiff was involved in an accident with a bus while walking on Houston and Chrystie Street in the East Village of NYC. Plaintiff claimed he was hit by the bus as the bus made an illegal left turn. Defendant Bus Driver claimed he had a green light which gave him the right to turn and that Plaintiff ran into the side of the bus.
Plaintiff's injuries included a broken knee, broken leg, multiple breaks in the foot, broken ribs, torn shoulder, and herniated discs. Plaintiff underwent multiple surgeries to remedy his condition as well as extensive physical therapy. Additionally, Plaintiff claimed lasting effects from the incident, including difficulty walking, lifting heavy objects and exercising.
Just as the parties began selecting a jury to try the case the parties reached an agreement and settled.
