Car Crash Plaintiff Settles for almost $2 Million
Plaintiff was stopped at a red light on Tremont Avenue in the Bronx when he was rear-ended by an Amboy bus. He sued the Driver and Amboy Bus Company for injuries sustained to his neck and back (whiplash). Although plaintiff initially underwent only minor treatment, he later developed lingering back and neck pain. Plaintiff suffered from a number of herniated discs and saw a chiropractor to treat his pain. He later treated the ongoing pain with surgery and rehabilitation followed by epidural injections.
In his lawsuit, Plaintiff sought compensation for past and future medical expenses as well as past and future pain and suffering. Before the suit reached trial the parties agreed to a settlement in the amount of $1,975,000, paid by defendants' insurance companies, Discover Property and Casualty Insurance, and Lexington Insurance.
